Show THE "INSANE PUZZLE CRAZE" has not been inappropriately named. Everywhere "45-14-13" seems to hold sway and people in all the ranks of life are nearly driving themselves mad in an attempt to solve the mystery. A dispatch from Erie, Pennsylvania, states that a stonecutter of that city, named Daniel Couray has become insane from attempting to find a solution. After working at the puzzle for several successive days and nights, he developed unmistakable evidences of mental derangement. It required four policemen to take him to the jail where he is now confined. He is so violent that he has torn off all clothing and refuses food. On the wall of his cell he has scratched a diagram of the puzzle to which he devotes attention in his calmer moments. |
