It was a financial success as well, raising almost $12,000 for the center. Black Diamond was the host ,The House of Tibet was the supplier of comestibles and the Uinta Brewing Company provided potables. For entertainment there was a band, a silent auction and a drawing of names for prizes. The drawing went on forever, but it seemed like an eternity- “Here we have a little something from Pata-Gucci! [pause/silence] That’s Patagonia to you and me! [pause/silence] And the winner is ...” It was a gritter. It appeared practically everyone lait entered received a prize. The Wasatch Canyon Reporter’s own Mystic, Ronny Joe, won several passes to Powder Mountain (which in his delirium he called, while loudly promising to take his date, “Pow- a N | THE HILLS ARE ALWE\ TH FAL: COL VS 4s Mow.”). Craig Gordon of Brighton Ski Resort (which donated night passes) won... SOCKS! Congratulations Craig. The food was tasty and the Uinta flowed freely - so freely that it caused Carolyn Uhle to out-bid David Baker for a Flatland Mountainworks duffle bag. David is her fiance. “It’s for a good cause,” she said when he protested. She got the bag. The money raised will be used for expenses such as paying observers who help the forecasters and for education.
