Glengarry is here, or rather wil be here on Decoration day. A reporter's report-er's visit to the resort to inspect the resort and to tell Herald read about it so they may the better make their Decoration day plans, revealed some remarkable Glengarry facts. The great dance hall is nearly completed com-pleted and will be Friday. The floor is one of the largest and finest in the state ; it is the largest in the county. The acoustics are excellent and many a convention will be held there, predicts J. A. Owens, president presi-dent of the resort company. The outdoor pool Is finished, a great man-made "swimming hole," 64 feet by 100. The indoor plunge, to be constructed this summer will be artificially heated, althonght the water comes from the hot springs beyond be-yond the fish hatchery and maintains main-tains a temperature of 68 degrees. A twelve-inch stream flows constantly con-stantly into and out of the pool, which, according to Manager Zabriskie Zabris-kie is to be drained and cleansed every 24 hours. "It will be the cleanest and most hLalthy indoor bathing pool in the state," Mr. Zabriskie declared. Architect Claud Ash worth designed de-signed the huge dance hall qp.d did a good job on it. So far some 52?,-OuO 52?,-OuO have been spent by the Glengarry Glen-garry promoters and being homegrown home-grown promoters received little financial fi-nancial assistance, or any other kind, for that matter, from the home folks of Provo and Springville. But they persisted and now they have a truly remarkable all-year-round resort. The latest announcement made by Messrs. Owens and Zabriskie is the program of transplanting full-grown trees to lend the touch of shade that all summer places need. "We will transplant some large trees, for we haven't time to wait for youngsters to grow into shade," Mr. Owens said. "Then when we have the grounds parked and have added games for the kiddies, we'll feel certain that we have contributed contrib-uted to the pleasures of the people of tins county." The new resort opens Decoration Day, with dancing, music and bathing. bath-ing. The Provo band will be there. After the opening the Provo band will play for the regular Tuesday night dances at Glengarry, the Gibson Girls furnishing the music for the Saturday dances. An interesting feature of Glengarry Glen-garry is its nearness to the state game and fish reservation, just across the road, where one may spend a most entertaining hour, before, be-fore, or after Glengarrying. |
