Benjamin Citizen of the Year announced Kathleen Olsen STAFF WRITER Accompanied by the approving applause of the audience assembled, Lynn Richardson accepted the 2007 Benjamin Citizen of the Year award at the conclusion of the annual Benjamin Days which was held on Friday and Saturday, June 8 and 9. Lynn, who was born to Wesley and Pauline Richardson, has lived in Benjamin most of his life. He comes from a family of nine children. He and his wife, Veria, have seven children and one foster Navajo daughter. The Richardsons are a very close knit family which was evidenced by the children, grandchildren, siblings, and other relatives present to see this honor bestowed on Lynn. He attended school in Benjamin and graduated from Spanish Fork High School after which he served in the military and was stationed in Germany. He worked for a while at the Utah State Prison but most of his career was as a member of the Utah High Patrol where he proved to be fair and true to the law but compassionate and kind when that was what was most needed. Lynn's life has been one of service which was verified in the letters of nomination which the committee received in his behalf and also evidenced in his every day life as he goes about quietly doing things for his neighbors and others. He is generous with his time and means even to opening his home to Benjamin Days 2007 held someone in need. He has served in numerous church positions and has always filled his callings to the best of his ability. He is often among the first to be on the spot when a problem arises and always willing tofixthings needing repair. Lynn is a stalwart member of the community and we offer our sincere congratulations to him on this well deserved honor.
