Show Six Hotels for the Yellowstone. Washington, January I. The lease of the Yellowstone Park privilege which was made to Kufus Hatch by the Government has been the cause of a good deal of trouble. The creditors of Mr. Hatch, who have been represented repre-sented by Congressman Gilfillan, wanted to have the old lease continued so they could realize something out of the big hotel that has been built, as well as other property. The matter has been before the Interior Department De-partment for some time and was decided by Secretary Muldrow to-day adversely to the Hatch creditors. A new lease was ordered to be drawn with a syndicate, the principal members of which are Charles Gibson, of St. Louis, John C. Bullitt and C. B. Wright, of Philadelphia, and Fred K. Billins, of Ver-mont, Ver-mont, the former president of the Northern Pacific Railway. The new syndicate is to have the privilege of erecting six hotels in-various in-various portions of the Park, to establish stage and telephone lines if thought desirable, de-sirable, and to put a steamer on the lake. They are to be subject to the surveillance of the Superintendent of the Park, however, who is to survey the sites for their hotels, and the Secretary of the Interior is to fix the rates at the hotels and for transportation. |
