Mrs. Elizabeth Bullock who has been suffering from an acute case of high blood pressure, is confined to her bed. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Smith spent Sunday in Preston, Idaho, visiting at the home of Mr. Kenneth Reid. Mr. Reid and Mr. Smith were friends when they attended the college of pharmacy at the University of Idaho. Ida-ho. Mr. J. O. Meeks will move soon to the Jacobs apartment, recently vacated va-cated by the James Simmons family. Mrs. H. W. Jacobs and Mrs. Lela Banks were guests of Mrs. Junius J. Hayes of Salt Lake on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Gamett left Pleasant Grove Tuesday morning to return to Las Vega's, Nevada, where they will make their home. Mr. Warren Kirk and Mrs. Genevieve Gene-vieve Wright, members of the Delta Alpha Plil, attended a costume ball given by this National dramatic fraternity Saturday evening in I'rovo. Mrs. Thcda Parduhn entertained members of the Merry Makers club at her home in American Fork Monday Mon-day evening. Monte Carlo Whist was played, the first prize being won by Mrs. Ruth Gammett, and the consolation by Leah Bullock, after which attractive refreshments, in red and white, were served. Mrs. Leland Swenson and baby daughter, Karen, attended the Mother's and Daughter's tea at the Second ward. Kay Swenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Swenson of Manila, left last week for Salt Lake where he will begin work for the Z. C. M. I. Mrs. Mildred Ferry and son, and Mrs. LaRaine Boyer, with her children chil-dren Kent and Mack, spent Wednesday Wednes-day with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Swenson. Miss Helen Carlson of Salt Lake City is visiting this week in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove and American Fork after returning from a trip to Santa Monica Mon-ica and Los Angeles, California. While there she visited her grand- Margaret Ann Webb, the small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Armond Webb of Lehi, spent Saturday and Sunday with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Shoell. Mrs. George Peay and Mrs. Keith Jacobs silent Monday afternoon in Provo visiting with friends. Mrs. G. A. Gardner, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Finlayson of Provo, were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Rogers of Lindon. Mr. Don Jensen who has spent the past three weeks at the home of his brother, Irwin Jensen, helping with the construction of the new home of the latter, left Tuesday morning for Logan. Hyrum E. Johnson attended a meeting of the state coordinators in Salt Lake Friday. Mrs. Johnson, who accompanied him, spent the day at the genealogical library. Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Kirk and daughter Emmeline, and Mrs. Lydia Lund of Salt Lake were present at the B. Y. U. Mask club last Thursday Thurs-day evening at Provo when Warren Kirk read his play, "Faith and Home", a three-act tragedy which he translated from the German language. According to Professor T. Earl Pardoe, under whose direction Warren has been studying dramatic art, this play is the only drama to be translated and given for the club, in all his 27 years' association with the organization. Mr. Kirk located the play while he was touring Austria Aus-tria last summer. The author of it, an outstanding man of letters is still living in Vienna. The theme of the tragedy is the persecution of Lutherans Luth-erans by Catholics in the early seventeenth century. A meeting was held for the mothers moth-ers who have children in the Central school kindergarten on Monday afternoon. A questionaire was filled fill-ed out by each mother. It was decided de-cided that the kindergarten will be in session for a week longer than school, during which period the small students will participate in an operetta. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Johnson and daughter Marvel, visited Sunday with Wayne and Laree Johnson, and Mr. John E. Hayes and family of Provo. umu, on ounaay, to visit with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Freeman, who operate a service station and lunch stand in that city. ' Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Larson of Manila were their daughter and granddaughter, grand-daughter, Mrs. Velma Rasmusson ana Virginia. Mrs. Robert Gardiner entertained Sunday afternoon in honor of the twelfth birthday of her daughter, Arlean. Dainty refreshments and a beautifully decorated birthday cake were served to the following guests: Elaine Loader, Carol Dawn War-nick, War-nick, Earlene Loader, Irene Warnick, Helen Hayes, Mary Lou and Melba Gardiner. Mrs. Garland Clark entertained in honor of the ninth birthday of her j daughter, Shirlene, Saturday afternoon. after-noon. Games and an attractive luncheon supplied the entertainment entertain-ment for the following guests: Sharon Shar-on Rollins, Kathryn Merrill, Shirley Allen, Marcia Wadley, Ardena Beck and Verna Proctor. On Friday night of last week, a group of friends from Charleston came to Pleasant Grove and sur-j sur-j prised Mr. and Mrs. John Atwood and family, who will leave for Ma-lad, Ma-lad, Idaho, after the closing of school. Mr. Atwood has purchased a grocery store there. Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Christiansen and daughter Carol, and Mr. and Mrs. George Nielson motored to Minersville, in southern Utah last Sunday and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gourley. ' Mr. and Mrs. John Aagard of I Fountain Green called at the homp of their daughter, Mrs. Fred Scholes, on Friday of last week. With them was another daughter, Miss Kenna Aagard, who remained at the Scholes home for a week-end visit. The numerous friends and relatives rela-tives who attended the funeral services serv-ices for Pauline Thome came from all parts of the state. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Lewis of Draper were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Wright, who lived at Draper before making their home in Pleasant Grove. Honoring the fourth birthday of her daughter Mary, Mrs. William Peterson entertained at a children's party on Thursday afternoon of last week.
