We certainly have reason for such Have you driven by the jubilation Senior Citizen’s Center building in Fillmore lately? Well if you have you most certainly noticed the beautiful blacktop all over the parking lot For six long years we’ve been wishing and waiting but in the summer of '84 we took matters into our own hands and started doing somethe thing about it We pestered County Commissioners so much they it finally conceded and promised would be done last fall Fall and winter came and no blacktop so we continued our campaign this spring and summer They decided the only way we would leave them alone is to get it done So come last Tuesday the 7th the equipment rolled in and the blacktop was laid and we have a more lovely parking walking through puddles mud and rocks We also have the City Fathers’ promise that the parking area in front along 400 West will be filled when that street is resurfaced so we won’t be stepping into lakes of muddy water Remember the Center is not for the Seniors exclusively Others use this fine building too Almost every week there is a wedding a reception a family reunion or some civic so all meeting being held there these people will appreciate the comfort of dry mudless shoes Our Board of Directors need to be praised too for their persistence in this issue If it had not been for their continuing efforts it would not have been accomplished If you don’t know who they are let me enlighten you They are: Myrtle Rowley president Dean Mallet Roy Olpin Davies Lawrence Jackson Cliff Purcell Merle Max Nichols Hone Paul Beckham all counselors and Maxine Rowley secretary Once a month this group meets to discuss the needs of the Center and when they agree on a problem talk ot they see that it gets about it for several months Due to their foresight several much needed been have already improvements made This group of Board Members are really on the ball and are thinking of the good of the Center and of When your comforts and pleasure you see them tell them they have done a good job "You’ve Come A Long Way Baby” is the theme o the EMFAG Opening Social to
