Show lOK.siae Keview, Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1781 County OKs Golf Course Advertising FARMINGTON Advertising on the golf course may seem unnatural at first, but it should eventually save golfers money the county commission was told last week. TeeAds from Salt Lake City was offered free signs to all of the courses in the area, including the Davis County Golf Course. The signs include commercial advertising. course is required to preThe county-ownesent all major changes to the Davis County Commission. Although the commission was skeptical at first, they listened to TeeAds director John Schoppe explain his program and later accepted it. Schoppe presented the commission with an array of brightly colored flexible vinyl signs. He said that these signs were indestructable under ordinary use conditions. Their production formula is a secret, he said. They have been used for long periods of time in all weather conditions and have received extensive wear, he said. He mentioned that some, had been placed in ski resorts five years ago and still look new. Advertising is placed on these signs because the cost of the signs, about $300 a piece, is prohibitive to most ski resorts and golf courses. The plan of adding ads to the signs developed just recently and allows a resort or course to get the signs free from cost. The course would only be required to dig holes and place the posts for the signs. Advertisers have their ad on a pole for the contracted length of two years. The golf course is allowed to approve all ads. Schoppe said that his company tries to get local ads in most of the ad positions on a course. If they are not filled then national ad advertisers are allowed to rent the pole positions. Response to this new type of advertising has been overwhelming from the advertiser, Schoppe said. d Clearfield.
