Show ' IRELAND AND THE IltlSE. We are proud to know that not a name of Irish mould appears in the lists of these Royal "Irish" Fiisileers slain or captured, by the patriotic Boers. "William Marconi," says the Northwestern North-western Chronicle. "who has come prominently into view with an invention inven-tion of wireless telegraphy, is Irish on his mother's side and his father was an Italian." Division S of Baltimore, which recently recent-ly decided to onen and clcse the meet- ings with the prayers recited in Gaelic, 1 has received wide notice in the leading Irish-American and Irish papers, and in An Claideahm Soluis, or Sword of Light,; the organ of the Gaelic League. Division 1 is the pioneer of the Order in this particular. The division has received a letter from Patrick F. Hag-erty Hag-erty of Springfield. Mass., enclosing a copy of the ritual of the Order translated trans-lated into the Gaelic. Thi3 matter was referred to the Gaelic committee. It is likely that the entire ritual will hereafter here-after be recited in the old tongue at the meetings, a movement in which this body will also be the pioneer in this country. Gaelic study exercises are held at each meeting of the division. divi-sion. . . - . r . ' |
