Show At the annual business meeting of the Ladies' Literary Club, the election of officers was as follows: Mrs. Henry C.Wallace, president; pres-ident; Mrs. Hal W. Brown, vice-president; Mrs. J. H. Brown, second vice-president; Mrs. A. J. Gorham, recording secretary; Mrs. Merrill, corresponding secretary; Mrs. E. B. Critchlow, treasurer; Miss Yardley, librarian; Mrs. William Igleheart, critic; Mrs. William C. Jennings, historian; Mesdames Hutchison, Moyer and Cowan, directors. Mrs. William C. Jennings entertained at dinner on Tuesday evening in honor of Mrs. Denison, the newly elected president of the general Federation of Women's Clubs, and the clever Cynthia Westover Alden, newspaper news-paper woman and president of the Sunshine Society. There must have been plenty of fun on the special Pullman cars that took the club women to and from Los Angeles. Think of those dressing rooms in the morning, with a line a car length waiting. Nice? ; Mr. J. Critchlow entertained a few friends informally Saturday evening in honor of Mr. Shealey of Ogden. His other guests were L. Freed, B. Barnett, A. Copp and T. Goodwin. Good-win. The New York club women who visited Salt Lake for a day on the way home from Los Angeles were given a touch of the strenuous life. Mrs. Thomas Jennings entertained at a porch party on Thursday in honor of her guest, Mrs. Willard Young. Mrs. M. E. Colburn, mother of Mrs. Plum-mer, Plum-mer, and R. L. Colburn is here from New York to spend the summer. Mrs. Wm. G. Sharp will be the guest of honor at a luncheon to be given ndxt Tuesday Tues-day by Mrs. D. J. Sharp. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McCutcheon entertained entertain-ed at dinner at the Country Club Sunday evening. Miss Zane has returned home after a charming winter spent in New York, Boston and Chicago. Miss Emilie Read has returned from California Cali-fornia and is a guest of Mrs. Walter G. Filer. 4 Mrs. J. D. Spencer entertained at an informal in-formal Kensington last Wednesday. Mrs. Elizabeth Porter and Miss Mamie Porter have returned from the coast. Miss Bersbach of Chicago is a guest of Miss Porter at the Kenyon. Mrs. Andrew Howatt and daughters entertained enter-tained informally Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Mont Ferry was hostess at an elaborate elabor-ate luncheon yesterday. Mrs. F. F. Eccles and Mrs. Nellie Walker start for the east on Monday. Mrsr Rooklidge will entertain the sewing club next Monday. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Walker have returned from New York. |
