Show JUDGE PYPER. Alexander C. Pyper, whose death occurred in Salt Lake City, Friday, 28th ult., was a man widely known throughout Utah. He was among the early settlers, had always been an active worker in public and private matters and was ever respected for sterling honesty and integrity. While his associations had been with men of all classes and needs, no one was able to say that a difference of opinion had ever biased his judgment. His position for a number of years in Salt Lake as police judge brought him in contact with a wide range of people, to whom he was familiarly known as Judge Pyper. Such men are generally rare in any community and the people of Salt Lake City have good cause to mourn has loss. But not Salt Lake alone, for the whole Territory has lost a friend and a worker whose efforts in her behalf in the past will help to show what great things he might have accomplished. We have all lost a benefactor; let us not fail to pay proper respect to his worth. |
