Show Lftff SOMETHING OF THE LOCAL REPUHLICAN IIIVJB TICKET FOR PRICE. IIUd Last week's Sun refrained from saying any- H Uiing alout the candidates on the republican city IMH ticket. Nor do wo think it necessary to go into IIIH their histories or pant records savo to say thnt LjHH they are all men of integrity men of good busi- Ii9j ncas qualifications, men who have lived hero for IIIH years, men who have- taken part in tho growth of lltlH Price and of Carbon county. iH A. W. Horsloy for mayor hns heretofore held IIKi public office and his record is before the public. lllU lie is a man who has always insisted that right llgH harms no one, and who if elected, one may go to EifH and who will bo willing to tnko advice and be ad- IIIPJ vised on nubile questions. He docs not desira n Mj council Bimply to comply with the law, but he lpJ would have men associated with him who I In should ho mako mistakes would go to him and II H advise with him of errors in his judgment. On I HI tho other hand ho wants a council behind him II H whom he can go to for advice ntrtl counsel nt 1 Q times when tilings might not be progressing as II H they should. A. W. Horslcy is a man who will II mm listen to anyone who mny come to him. Ho hns I H never in his lifo nttcmptetl to be boss or to wield IIH the big stick. iin ' Thomns Fitzgerald, tho nominee for four-year llfl councilman, is n man so well known in Price that BIHJj there is scarcely a child hereabouts that does not BJ number that gentleman as his or her friend. M "Fitz," as ho is popularly known, has mndo Price I D his home for nomo twenty years, He has never IH held or desired oTf ice. This year, however, after BiMJI his friends suggested hisnnmo ho came out and 1HB8 said: "If I can bo of any uso to tho city I am Iflfl vrilllng to give my time" Tho Sun does not R know of any person who cannot vote for Thomas HI Fitzgerald and retain tho highest degree of sclf-I sclf-I BJ respect. H And, so on down the line. John H. Pace, Lars H Frnndscn nnd "Doll" Fausett, all men of the I Ju highest typo of character men identified with HJ different lines of business in the city, and also ' H who know tho inB and outs of what is tho best to BHJj do to mako our city grow. L. A. Laubcr, candi-HUJ candi-HUJ dato fui' city recorder, it is true, has held this HlHj office for two terms, but even his political ene-Him ene-Him mlcs say he has a clear record, and no one can HIH beat him for the way in which he has kept the HIH records of tho city. There was no opposition to H1H him two years ago, After ho had been nominn-Hun nominn-Hun ted by the republicans tho democrats endorsed HDJ him on their ticket for the position. If a man is BHJ serving you well, why change? It cannot be for HH tho purpose of getting a more competent man. HH Tho salary attached to tho office is not attractive IH enough for nnyono to make especial effort for HH tho position. HJHjH A. II. Hunten for citv treasurer is a very de- HUH serving young man. He has been practically HlK reared in Price. Tho only office ho has ever held HB until the past two years was that of treasurer of HBH tho Carbon county high school appointive. He PH is at present treasurer of the city elective. The Hn 3un looks for Hunten to bo elected bv a very MHj substantial majority. His opponent (Williams) HfH is not well known at Price, having been for some HIH time In tho employ of tho Denver nnd Rio Grande MB at Price ns an operator at a good salary. If elcc- KfR ted ho could not afford to give up his present HjI position for that of city treasurer with the salary Hill ' attached. |
