Show CITY COUNCIL MATTERS. City council met in regular session ses-sion Nov. 3, Mayor Anderson presiding. pre-siding. Roll called, Councilor Madsen absent. The Watermaster reported about the Cottonwood reservoir. He had completed the work, under the direction di-rection of the Irrigation committee, lie had built two levees, one on the west side and one on the southwest part. They were strongly made as they were built in good weather. He had put a box on the north side. He also reported that the water in the Brigham field ditch was likely to overflow the street at the point by water in the ditch. The report was accepted and the matter referred re-ferred to the city attorney. The committee on Waterworks reported they had gone over- the ground to examine how thev could supply the users of city water during dur-ing winter. A tank could be built and the water supplied from the South creek. Councilor Tuttle moved the report be accepted and the committee instructed to build a tank according to their best judgment; judg-ment; carried. Councilor Tuttle moved that the Watermaster be instructed to take out the water in South Fork at Meeting House bridge, under the crossed by the flume of the East field ditch, by reason of tilling with gravel, and recommended said Brig-ham Brig-ham field ditch be cleaned out below be-low this point. Quincy Crawford petitioned for the privilege to make a trench across Second South street, between B and C streets east, for the purpose of laying a pipe to take water for culinary culi-nary purposes from pipe used by Mrs. Jolley. On motion the petition peti-tion was granted on condition that in case property owners on Second South street petition for an extension exten-sion of the city water system, that the property now owned by petitioner peti-tioner abutting Second South street between B and C streets, shall favor said petition ; carried. The Manti Meat & Live Stock company petitioned for leave to erect a slaughter house on Frederick Freder-ick Miller's property north of the city. The petition was granted.' J. II. F. N. G. Erickson petitioned for a remission of his city taxes, $4.80; petition granted. Mrs. Martina Bench petitioned for a remission of her city taxes, $7.05; remitted in full. II. F. Harmon, for Walter Stringham, petitioned for damage done to his land by water from city creek. The Irrigation committee reported that they had examined the place of Walter Stringham, and thev considered the c.irv was nnt. responsible for the damage done, as the dam had always been there, and recommended the petition be not granted. Councilor Becker moved the report be sustained and the petition not granted; carried. The Marshal reported for the Board of Health that diphtheria had abated. In the family of J. W. Fox there was one death from scarlet fever, and the bedding had been burned by order of the health officer. There were two cases of scarlet fever in the same family; report accepted. In the matter of the Brigham field ditch owners, the committee on Streets and Alleys reported that the owners were unwilling to do anything towards putting the sidewalk side-walk in repair from damage done |
