Show From St. George. Mr Richard Horne, just up from St George, gave us the following items yesterday : Crops in Southern Utah, so far as he saw, looked well, especially fruit, the grape crop being particularly excellent More raisins and less wine will be made this season, a readier market being found for the former. Harvesting was expected to be commenced last week. The Clara stream had partially dried up and caused some difficulty, still it was believed there would be sufficient water to mature the crops. Mr.Thorne has been engaged in teaching, and had a commercial class last winter at St. George, which was well attended. He will spend some time in this city completing com-pleting his commeicial studies and will return to open his classes there next fall. Education is being eagerly sought after and is well patronized. He saw no grasshoppers until be reached Parowan, bnt from that point north were evidences of their ravages. |
