Show RANT WRITES HIS BULLETIN 3fc Sleeps Well iml Douglas Says lie 3q tiiiiiiij SirenIt MOUNT McGnnaoit July GAt 11 oclock last night General Grant vas asleep He I was partially awake at 2 oclock and fully so at 230 when tho Doctor attended him to clear his throat after food had been given When tho physician had finished ho asked the General how he felt and the reply written writ-ten upon his pad was as follows I think I feel quite well Doctor When I got awake half an hour ago I did not feel in the slightest slight-est degree sleepy and I feared my nights sleep was over but 1 was asleep in a minute or two and have felt now as if I could hardly keep awake long enough to take food Prom this time to GoO this morning the General slept after which ho again took food He had his throat cleaned and was awake until about 8 oclock when he dozed again as he has through tho forenoon About 7 oclock General Grant I wrote in answer to questions as to his condition condi-tion Possibly stronger but not so well rested as 1 usually am Dr Douglas was asked if the quantify of sleep now being secured by Grant was evidence evi-dence of weakened powers or whether it was restful and useful sleep Said the doctor doc-tor His sleep is restful he is resting well and catching up the strength lost in the two days of weakness which last week were induced in-duced by causes not incident to the disease |
