HANCOCK, PIONEER, ' DEAli WIMnm James Hnucock, anothor of the )loncera of coei county, aged 75 ycais, passed from mortality tnls morning at 5 -10 o clock, at tho family rccldeucb, 2310 Jorterson uvenue, ufter an extended Illness from pneumonia and othor complications. At his bedside bed-side when the end cumc, was his wife and most of his children, who, during hia -weekfl of lllnoss havo lovingly lov-ingly watched over and cared for his ovory want. William J. Hancoclr -was v born at Putsom, Sommorsctshlro, England. Ho was the son of Joseph nnd Alary Hill Hancock. Ho became a member of the Latter Day Saint church in 1854 nnd from that time until his death waB a most Jovout, lalthful worker, always taking an active part In various vari-ous church positions. At the time of his death ho was instructor In tho High Priests' class of the Sixth Ward, and a member of tho ward choir. Ho emigrated to Utah December, 185G, coming to Ogden, whore he has resided over since, doing much In the unbuilding of our city. Ho was the father of ten children. His wifo and tho following cnlldron survive him. Mrs. Margaret A Schwartz, Mrs. Rpso Foloy, William H , Edward J., James R, John L. and Miss Daisy Hancock, also thirty-four grandchildren, a sister, sis-ter, Mrs Fred Dowen and brother, II H. Hancock. Mr. Hnncock was one fof the members of the first band In Ogden. Tho funeral services will be held Friday at 2 o'clock at the Sixth Ward meeting house, Bishop Henry W. Gwil linm, presiding. Tho remains will Ho in state Thursday from 5 to 8 p. m and Friday from 10 a. m. to 1 p. m., at the family residence. Interment will be made in the Ogden Og-den City cemetery nn |
