Show I CAPTAIN PARDON DODDS I The eightyeth anniversary of the birth of Captain Pardon Dodds, Sr., was celebrated at the home of his son Pardon Dodds, Jr., last Tuesday. The event was also in commemoration commemora-tion of the 44th year since Mr. Dodds arrived in the Uintah basin. He having hav-ing arrived as the first Indian agent, to take charge of the Utes, on February Feb-ruary 15th. 1873. At that time there were over 4,500 Indians, by actual count, on the reservation. A large number of old-time friends of Mr. Dodds were present and stories of early days retold. The affair was a very pleasant one and one that lends to bind the younger generation to the heroic struggles of the distant dis-tant past, says the Vernal Express. |
