Show OGDEN. Sacred Heart Academy Death and Funeral of Jessie Cosney. The librarv of Sacred Heart academy has recently been enriched by a handsome hand-some set of "Bulwer's Lytton's works in thirty volumes, the gift of the Alumnae. Al-umnae. Classes were resumed on the 6th and before the week ended all wore at work with the usual energy and earnestness. The music pupils are working very diligently in preparation for the examinations which will be held the last week of January. The death of Jessie Cosney has cast a pall of gloom over the happy household house-hold of Mr. John Cosney, and has left a chastening shadow on the child-life of many a little companion. Jessie was a devoted pupil of Sacred Heart academy, acad-emy, and her beautiful character en- , deared her alike to teachers and schoolmates. school-mates. But if 'her life was beautiful in its piety and unselfishness her death was still more so, and rarely doejs childhood exhibit such sublime faith and serene resignation. The funeral was held Thursday morning, the mass being sung by the junior choir, of which Jessie had been a member. Rev. P. M. Cushnahan delivered a most beautiful sermon. Taking for his text "A Child Shall Lead Them." He showed how the child of Nazareth had led the world. He dwelt with tenderness tender-ness on the impressive scene of Jessie's death, and showed, tne power of a holy child to lead souls to God. There were many choice floral tributes, one of them from the Children of Mary, of which society the dead child was an exemplary member. Mrs. Patrick McCornick has returned re-turned from California. Miss Xellie Healy is visiting in Denver. Den-ver. Mrs. Boyle entertained Thursday evening of last week. The Degree of Honor will give their j annual ball on Jan. 2S. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Shields entertained enter-tained last week in honor of the Ladies' La-dies' Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. John F. Farley of Denver was in Ogden last week. |
