Show GALA DAY FOR THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS The Knights of Columbus of Salt Lake have done themselves proud, and shown their knightly visitors from abroad that they are genuine heralds of the great sir knight who first planted the cross in this western world and from whom their name is derived It was announced last week that a crack team from the east would ar- we ui mis city to put our local knights through the higher degrees. Therefore Wednesday was a gala day for the Knigr.ts of this city. The team from t tie east, accompanied by other knights, mostly from Colorado, were met at the Rio Grande depot and taken to the Knutsford. These visitors were: John H. Bdddin, San Gary, Joseph Newman, ra;n, ?1- Ntwm;J. Stanley McGinnis, i. M. Morrow, George O. Dostal Ed-Ward Ed-Ward Dellhanty. F. P. Cauchlin M,,rt wife. S. J. Young, Frank Powers, M. C. Dolan and wife and daughter, W. T. Davoran, P. H. Muller and wife, all of Denver; R. F. Hayden of Topeka, ; ElU,'ke of Cnicago, J. D. Rodgers of Leadville. After resting at the hotel the visiting visit-ing knights were, escorted to the residence resi-dence of Bishop Scanlan and about the cuty by a committee consisting of E. V. Duncan. Edward O'Meara. E. F. Stol-zenberger, Stol-zenberger, Edward McGurrin and Geo. J. Gibson. In the afternoon the candidate.,- presented themselves at the hall m the Auerbaeh block and received two of the initiatory degrees. The third was administered in the evening and was succeeded by a banquet. This was j rather an informal affair, and the toasts j and responses were delivered with that I spontaniety characteristic of extempore extemp-ore orations. The proceedings were calculated cal-culated to bring the strangers to a foeling of the genuine fraternism of knights in this city which formality ' might handicap. Smith, J. J. McXic'n-ols. McXic'n-ols. James H. Kirk, William A. Goldth- wait, George Curley, John C. Lynch, James Q. Fulton, Joseph Dedrich, James J. Butler, E. II. O'Brien. Fi-Om Salt Lake the visitors will proceed pro-ceed to San Francisco to organize a new lodge and thence to Los Angeles. . The officers of the Salt Lake council are: Grand knight. Dr. M. A.
