E. Straup presiding. A taxi license applied for by George Campmiaki to operate in Bingham under a Bingham li-cense was denied. Recently the Town Board put into effect a traffic and auto mobile ordinance. Due to traffic conditions and parking of auto-mobiles,, it was found necessary to provide a place for public parking of machines that should not be interferred with by Taxi machines, and on the other hand provide space for Taxi machines that should not be interferred with by public machines. It was therefore found that space would be limited to five taxi ma-chines, hence a limit was so placed. These licenses wre issued to the first five who applied and who had been consistently oper-ating through the hard times and the year around. Since then there has been four additional applications for taxi licenses, and all, including Mr. Campmiaki, have been denied for the reasons a provided in the ordinance. The Public Safety Commission composed of Dr. F. E. and Town Straup Marshall Frank Thompson also recommended to the Town Board the advisability of placing a limit on soft drink and card club places and also on rooming house licenses at the south end of Main street. j The board adopted the recommendation. , Dr. Straup expressed to the Board his reason as follows: i "Bingham is improving in a financial and businesa way, also in population. Recently there has been a clamor for securing li-censes in the near future for these kind of places. We desire j,o be conservative and restrictive for these kind of places." Dr. Straup said too many will mean a more flagrant competition, ajso the inducement for a violation of the laws. A limit will mean restriction and restriction will mean the power of the board to properly control these matters and within public decency.
