Show Successor To Gifford Pinchot Washington, Jan 12. President Presi-dent Tuft thin afternoon appointed ap-pointed Henry S Graves, director di-rector of the Yale Forest school, as fores tor of the United States, to succeed Gifford Pinchot. He also appointed Albert F Pottert at present acting forester, for-ester, ras associate forester. The new forester and his associate are both known as Pinchot' men; Both have served under Mr Pinchot and both' are in sympathy with his policy of administration; ad-ministration; It was largely thru Mr Pinchot's efforts that the Yale Foit1st school was es1 tablished and Mr Graves went from the post of assistant chief of the division of forestrv under un-der Mr Pinchot to become director di-rector of the school in 1900; He had served in the forestry division divi-sion for two .years. Mr Graves graduated from Yale in 1SU2. He was trained in forestftin this count"r'' and in Iulrope' and has had extensive exten-sive experience in the west, having made the reconnaissance reconnais-sance survey of the Black Hills in 1S97; Mr Graves will begin his duties as forester February 1. Mr Potter, now associate forester, for-ester, Who succeeds Overton V Price, is a natixe of California and had spent all his life in the west until he became" a mem her of the forestry staff nine years ago, He has had jurisdiction juris-diction over all grazing privileges privi-leges Within the preserves.
