And now, with the Kimball Art Center entering its third year of classes beginning October 15, a variety of long and short-term short-term classes are available for children and adults alike. Depending on time, interest and ability, there's something for everyone. Fiber Beginning with a Batik Workshop (Tues, Oct 23 & Fri, Oct 26, 1:30-4:30 pm) students will learn the ancient an-cient Javanese process of designing with wax to produce hand dyed fabrics. (Instructor: Karen Of-fringa). Of-fringa). A Basketry Workshop (Sat, Nov. 10, 10 am-4 pm) taught by Kathy Kankainen will emphasize creating Indian baskets from natural materials. Ms. Kankainen will also teach a Hoop Weaving Workshop (Sat, Nov 17, 10 am-4 pm) with students learning how to create non-traditional wall hangings. Techniques of Loom Weaving (Thurs, 3-5:30 3-5:30 pm, Oct. 18-Dec 13) taught by Peggy Parker, will allow students to create on the loom. Finally, Fabric Stitchery (Mon. or Fri., 1:30-3:30 1:30-3:30 pm, Oct. 15-Dec 14) will include stitchery and quilting on hand died fabric will be offered by Holly Rom. Dance and Music An exciting new offering will be Folk Dancing (Tues, 6-9 pm, Oct. 16-Dec 11) with Pat Whitfield instructor, will include Mexican, Polynesian, Greek, plus circle, cir-cle, line and group dances from all parts of the world. Beginning and Continuing Guitar (Mon & Tues, 5:30-5:30 5:30-5:30 pm, Oct. 15-Dec 11) is led by Don Gomes and will offer the basics of playing folk guitar for fun. Stained Glass Dale Nelson is leading a Beginning Stained Glass (Tues 11 am-2 pm, or 6-9 pm) as well as a Continuing Stained Glass class (Thurs, 6-9 pm, both Oct 18-Dec $2) for students wanting to ex plore two and three dimensional dimen-sional projects such as windows, win-dows, lamps, planters. An Advanced Stained Glass class dealing with etching and difficult glass cuts (Wed 6-9 pm, Oct 17-Dec 12) will be taught by Lex Steffensen. Photography Leading off the photography offerings will be Pat McDowell, sports and action photography specialist with a Photo Journalism Workshop (Wed 6-9 pm, Oct 17-Nov 14) created for working Tickets Available Chamber of Commerce Alamo Saloon K.A.C. photographers. A Color Workshop let by Inkley's photographer Staf Open-shaw Open-shaw (Sat, Oct 27 & Nov 3, noon-4 pm) will deal with composition and shooting color slides. Finally, Lisa Palasvirta will offer Continuing Con-tinuing BlackWhite Photography (Tues 6:30-9 p.m., Oct. 16-Dec. 11) to students stu-dents who have already had some previous darkroom experience and want to continue con-tinue the photography. Ceramics A class in Sculpture let by sculptor Judy Summer (Tues 6-9 pm, Oct 16-Dec 11) is designed for any level student will include clay sculpture techniques, mold making, wax work and metal casting. Jim Simister will lead a Basic Ceramics class (Mon 6-9 pm, Oct 15-Dec 15-Dec 10) as well as Continuing Ceramics (Wed 6-9 pm, Oct 17-Dec 12) is designed for students with an interest in working on the potters' wheel. Drawing and Painting Taking full advantage of the mountain fall colors, Mariln Stillman Caravaglia has planned a class in Landscape Land-scape Painting (Thurs. 1-3 pm, Oct 11-Dec 13) with on-location on-location and in-studio work designed for beginning as well as intermediates. Robert Barrett, KAC's former for-mer Artist-in-Residence, is offering Figure Drawing (Mon 6-9 pm, Oct. 15-Dec 10) for beginning drawers and Figure Painting (Thurs 6-9 pm, Oct 18-Dec 13) for those painters interested in painting pain-ting the human nude figure. Children Not to be forgotten, of course, are the numberous children's classes both long and short-term as well. Beginning with Marilyn Stillman Caravaglia offering a Soft Sculpture Workshop (Fri 1-2 pm, Oct 19-Nov 9), a Mural Painting Workshop (Thurs 3:30-4:45 pm, Nov 15-Dec 15-Dec 13), and a Block Printing Prin-ting Workshop (Fri 1-2 pm, Nov 16-Dec 14), there are several other workshops as welt. Don Gomes will teach a Creative 'Dramatics Workshop for elementary school children (Tues 3:30-4:30 3:30-4:30 pm, Oct 16-Nov 20) and middle school children (Mon 3:45-4:45 pm, Oct 15-Nov 19), and Karen Offringa will offer of-fer a Batik Workshop (Tues. 3:45-5:45 pm, Oct 30-Nov 6) as well as a Christmas Wrapping Paper Workshop for elementary school children (Tues, Dec 4, 3:30-5:30 3:30-5:30 pm) and middle school children (Thurs, Dec 6, 3:45-5:45 3:45-5:45 pm).
