Kennecott Copper Taxes Decline Slightly Utah Copper Division of Kenne-co- tt Copper Corporation last week paid $9,769,833.93 in property taxes for 1959, but the huge figure was $39, 61 4.13 less than it paid last year. The tax payment handed the Salt :Lake Treasurers office by Stephen S. Waldron, administrative accountant for the division, was compared to $9,809,488.06 paid by the states in 1958 largest copper producer The 1958 property tax bill was the largest single payment to be made in the history of the state. Division officials explained that the decrease was due primarily to a drop in the property valuation of its huge ore body in Bingham Canyon. Jensen, principal of the Cyprus High School resides at 2940 Filmore with his wife. They have two sons, Leon and Jerold. Mrs. Jensen is the former Vivian Nelson of Redmond, Utah. Mr. Jensen is a graduate of North Sevier High School. He has attended the BYU and obtained his normal teaching certificate from Snow College in Ephraim in 1932. His teaching career started in Salina where he taught elementary school for four years. He was then named principal, and held this position for 10 years. Mr. Jensen worked in Japan, Korea and the Philippine Islands, vhen sent overseas in 1945 as field director for the American Red Cross. Upon his return, he attend Teachers College at Columbia University The Kearns north stake are planning a gay New Years Eve party for all citizens of Kearns who may wish to attend.
