Show The local chapters of the Utah Association for the United Nationt, the United World Federalist, and Phi Kappa Phi featured Dr. Nash in a special 'face the critics' program pro-gram Sept. 25 in the auditorium of Orson Spencer Hall. Four highly qualified community leaders kindly agreed to serve on the panel of critics. They are: Mrs. Clair Senior, UAUN board member; Mrs. Jerry Landa, president, Salt Lake League of Women Voters; Dr. S. Grover Rich, director, Institute In-stitute of International Studies; and Herbert F. Kretchman, editorial writer for the Salt Lake Tribune. Speaking on the topic "Pressures Toward A Governed World", Dr. Nash raised some questions as to the UN's adequacy in a world that he claims is throttled by lawlessness lawless-ness and power politics. Dr. Nash, who thrives on the disputations arising from his advanced thinking on the subjects had some hard questions and challenging counter-views counter-views directed at him by his panel of critics. LEADING WORLD FEDERALIST FACES PANEL OF CRITICS That the world must be governed and no ifs, ands or buts has for 1 5 years been the fervent contention conten-tion of Dr. Vernon Nc.sh, author, lecturer and Rhodes Scholar. This unusual man has, in the most stirring and convincing terms, delivered his message to over 1200 audiences and the many readers of his book "The World Must Be Governed." A member of the United Unit-ed World Federalists Executive Council, Dr. Nash is a Quaker who believes that neither national disarmament dis-armament nor armaments can deliver de-liver the security that all nations seek. Instead, he asserts that history his-tory and the present "fearful state of international anarchy argue compellingly for strengthening the United Nations into a world organ-i?ation organ-i?ation adequate to outlaw war. |
