Milford Hosts Region 15 Track Meet 4 Beaver Boys Send 3 Relays and 10 Athletes (o ll wa a greai Jay for a track meet. There wore some records that were broken. Some of them were the mile and two mile by Sara Ellett. Slate In the recently completed Region track and field meet held at South Sevier High School in Monroe, Utah, Beaver High School qualified three relays and 10 trackmen for the state track and field meet to be held Friday and Saturday May 16th and 17th at Brigham Young University. Beavers chances at taking a numerous contingent of trackmen the to state extravaganza took a huge boost with the additions of athletic seniors Blair Albrecht and Brandon Raddon to the relay teams, which had not previously qualified timewise for the "Big Meet". The speedy Albrecht led out for the two recent additions from the baseball team by running solid legs on first the sprint relay team composed of Freshman Derrick Erickson, himself, Morty Marshall and the always dangerous Daniel Decker, that ran a season best 46.9 clocking for a third place finish and a state trip. Seniors Albrecht and Decker kept the rally going to get the medley relay, a team that had been struggling all year, to the big meet in Provo. The Decker to Albrecht exchange was a beauty as the Beaver Seniors upstaged the top ranked North Sevier twosome to put Beaver on top going into the second and third exchanges anchored by Junior Leo Kanell, 400 meters, and Freshman Anthony White 800 Meters, who ran solid legs to run a season best 3:57 clocking and qualify for the Provo meet with a 3rd place finish. The final relay heroics were turned in by the fast improving mile anchored by the strong running Brandon Raddon w ho burned team relay a season best S4.5 final leg after taking the baton from discus record holder Troy Gent to pull Beaver to a season best third place finish and a 3:45 clocking Sophomore Korey Yardley and Junior Leo Kanell ran the first two legs on that relay with solid 57 second clockings. Troy Gent had another solid Saturday performance by extending his own school record discus throw from 146' 10" to a state leading 15 1'6" throws. The 18 year old, on a role from his record shattering discus toss, came back to finish 3rd in the pole vault and run a 16.0 flat 2nd place high hurdles mark to score 25 A points for the Beaver cause at the region meet.
