Show THRONGS VISI1 PURE FOOD SHOW SALT LAKE CITY, April 4. At 1 o'clock this afternoon the second day's program of tho Intermountain Pure Food and Industrial exposition began with tho same Interest that characterized tho opening performance perform-ance last night. Probably the main feature of this afternoon's program was the baby show. All available babies ba-bies wore lined up nlong the odge of the platform by the fond mothers and the judges wero assured a difficult ta. k In picking the baby to bo awarded award-ed the prize. Interest In the gas range to be glvenaway by tho Utah Gas & (joko company Is unabated. The second day of Ihe show is marked by a large attendance and the management is confident that tho Interest that Is being awakened by tho enterpriso will result In much good to the state. D. F. Collett, secretary of tho Utah Man ufacturers' association, says: "You may quoto me as "saying that never beforo in the history of the state, to my knowledge, has so much Interest been manifested on the part of th public In Utah goods. There has been at times a slight interest awakened on tho part of the manufacturers manufac-turers and at times tho consumers have shown a little Interest, as well as tho merchants, but never beforo has there been 6uch a well-balanced move on the part of all concerned. , The merchants are realizing that to support Utah Industries keeps tho factories fac-tories going, and that the more work thero is in tho state the more money their customers have with which to pay their bills. They aro thoreforo beginning to stock their shelves with Utah goods and to encourage their customcis to buy them. The manufacturers, manu-facturers, Bpurred on by this support aro turning out more and better goods and the public Is beginning to see that untold benefit will como by patronizing these homo Institutions. Reports are coming In constantly from dealers that thov are beginning to realize the benefit of buying Utah-made Utah-made goods. Ma-nufhcturors, also, send In word of their appreciation of the support they are thus receiving, and the public is supporting both manufacturer and dealer by calling for home products. All this may bo directly di-rectly traced to the campaign that has been waged In the past by the various organizations, and the culmination culmi-nation of their efforts In the exposition exposi-tion that is now going on." nn |
