Show CITIES LAUNCH CAMPAIGN AGI'ri ICEBOXES The Utah Municipal League this week launched a state-wide campaign cam-paign to safeguard the children of the state against death in abandoned aban-doned ice boxes. The League, through its board of officers and directors, called on each of the 210 municipalities in Utah to eliminate locally the hazard which claimed 26 tots in Letters outlinng the plan were mailed to each of the mayors and town president, said James N. Stacey, Richfield mayor and president presi-dent of the Utah Municipal League. I The campaign calls for a PROCLAMATION issued by the city fathers designating the WEEK of JULY 26 as "ABANDONED "ABAN-DONED REFRIGERATOR WEEK," he said. During the week citizens and civic organizations will be urged to ferret out abandoned ice boxes in their neighborhood, and to obtain ob-tain consent of the owners to remove re-move the catches or hinges or to destroy them. Each city will name a local organization or-ganization to take reports of the abandoned ice boxes as they are found, Stacey said. The proclamation also urges dealers in such appliances and owners of vacant apartments double check the possibility of the hazards and take necessary steps to eliminate them. |
