Sundance: Cinema Café Sundance Film Festival will present a Cinema Café discussion at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Filmmaker Lodge, 550 Main St. Each morning in the Filmmaker Lodge, Cinema Café invigorates the culture of conversation. Our daily series of informal chats rounds up special guests for thought-provoking discussions, complete with coffee and treats. Sundance: Unearthing the Past Sundance Film Festival will present a panel titled “Unearthing the Past,” at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Filmmaker Lodge, 550 Main. Nonfiction filmmakers are employing innovative approaches to visually and artfully engage with the past. Through use of archival footage, personal- and biographical-storytelling filmmakers are excavating the past to re-contextualize the present and interrogate notions of truth. The panel will feature Alissa Wilkinson (“Vox”) in a conversation with Jonathan Bogarin and Elan Bogarin (“306 Hollywood”), Robert Greene (“Bisbee ‘17”), Sierra Pettengill (“The Reagan Show”), and Marina Zenovich (“Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind”). Avalanche Dog Meet and Greet The public can meet the Park City Mountain Avalanche Rescue Dogs at 4:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday at Canyons Ski Beach. The event is free and open to the public. Dance-a-Thon Mrs. Asia Utah, in partnership with Kaladharaa Dance Academy, will host a dancea-thon from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Peggy Bergman Ballet West Academy, 6554 Creekside Ln. The event is open all levels of dancers and proceeds will benefit Nuzzles & Co. and Second Chance, animal rescue nonprofits. WinterGreen Fest 2018 WinterGreen Fest 2018 will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, 4051 N. S.R. 224. WinterGreen Fest was created to spread and promote public awareness about the use of sustainable resources with different festivals, fairs, concerts and events. Snowshoe Tour of the Swaner Preserve A snowshoe tour of the Swaner Preserve will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27. The EcoCenter will provide the climbing harness, but climbers must wear closed-toe shoes. Climbers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult to sign a liability waiver. Fox School of Wine Mines & Wines Tour The Fox School of Wine Mines & Wines Tour will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27. Fox School of Wine Weekend Wine Series The Fox School of Wine hosts its weekend wine series from 6-7 p.m. every Saturday at the Silver Baron Lodge in Lower Deer Valley, Fox School of Wine professors select five wines based on a theme that changes every week. Sundance Film Festival attendees can wrap up upcoming & ongoing their experiences by sharing a near-spiritual moment with Festival director John Cooper and director of programming Trevor Groth, who will offer non-denominational talks of the festival. Thursday, Feb. 1 Connections Group With Peace House Peace House, a local nonprofit dedicated to wiping out domestic violence in Summit and Wasatch counties, will offer Brene Brown’s 12-week “Shame Resiliency” Connections class at noon every Thursday, starting on Feb. 1. This group is free and open to all genders and ages with domestic violence and sexual assault victimization history, including emotional abuse and abuse and neglect in childhood.
