Well, such a thing may be, so we will let it pass as a (?). The "Hob Goblin Promenade" was the most successful social given in Weber for a number of years. Every thing was first class. The plan of decorating so say the old members of Weber) was the best that has been produced since the memorable evacuation of the assembly hall by "We ber's Roost," and all there was there in,' and it owes its origin to no other source than the '"celebrated College decorators." Pie, candy, gum, come back balls. hats, and the Devil's Tunnel gave the dance the SPIRIT OF CARN- EVIL, and added materially to the evening's fun. The faculty membeis retreated from their prominent location near the entrance to the more obscure, northwest corner, and there indulged in a very entertaining and amusing sport. (knocking each others hats off by means of rubber come-back balls). Mrs. Shurtleff's favorite desert seemed to be pumpkin pie. $ i$ $l HATS and CAPS NORMAN SIMS 384 TWENTY-FIFTH STREET t$ t$ I This space belongs to Jerry 1 had a dream in which 1 saw a throng of people, struggling and reaching for what appeared to be a banner. As I drew nearer to the throng, I detected that it was a ban ner, and that on it's purple background was inscribed in gold figures "21." As I looked from the emblem to the crowd, it suddenly dawned on me that they were endeavoring to replace the banner with another. A final struggle and the crowd dispersed, being unable to reach the height which had been attained by the "purple and gold," and thus leaving that banner to reign supreme over all. You know from our success in everything last year what put our banner up that high, so we are going to enumerate a few of the many '.hings which will keep our class going higher. Our first achievements will be to carry off the honors in all public speaking, debating, and athletic contests. Now for the social activities we are going to give a carnival this year, that will surpass anything ever given in the school, and we are also going to welcome the New Year with the first Leap Year dance. As for our Prom well, just wait and see. It will so dazzle our "honored guests." the Seniors, that One of the main features of the evening was the introduction of the new school song. Prof. Manning sang the Purple and White, accompanied by the Lillian Thatcher orchestra. Miss Thatcher has presented the college class with a full set of orchestra music for the school song. It was first decided to have Ira Terry sing the school anthem (which same goes up to F) but after consulting the board of health it was reconsidered and Prof. Manning was given the honor. The school was surprised with something new in the line of programs. Many of the girls thought they were miniature modeled check books, and the language the boy; used would have been very discouraging to the English department in "Good English Campaign." There were any amount of "slips." The moonlight waltzing was hailed with joy. However the moon becoming enthusiastic and being influenced by the jazzy music turned on its axis and gave its attention to the south end of the hall. Don't be frightened. Bear in mind that this moon was one that was light by pressing a button.) Everything went off quick ant! snappy and when the orchestra played "Those sweet old strains" because of the quick service in the check stand, there was not the usual jam in the lower halls and no one had to go home without a hat, (except LeRoi Blaylock.)
