Show HEALTH NEWS Physicians and local health officers of-ficers reported 199 resident cases of notifiable diseases to the State Department of Health for the week ending October 22. That is an increase of 105 cases over the 94 reported last week, or better than a 100 per cent increase. During Dur-ing the corresponding week last year, 134 cases were reported. Chickenpox and measles account ac-count for the greatest part of the increase in cases this week over last week. The following is a list of all diseases for the week: chicken-pox, chicken-pox, 84; diphtheria, 2; infantile paralysis, 13; influenza, 1; measles, meas-les, 48; German measles, 2; meningitis, men-ingitis, 1; mumps, 6; pneumonia, 2; scarlet fever, 2; tuberculosis, 6; tularemia, 4; whooping cough, 5; gonorrhea, 8; syphilis, 18; cancer, can-cer, 1; and rheumatic fever, 1. |
