I A native of Utah Mrs Whitney was born in Salt Lake City December 10 1854 a daughter of Daniel H. H Wells counselor to Brigham Young and Lydia Alley Wells She was educated in the elementary schools here and also attended the University of Deseret Deseret Des Des- eret now the University of ot Utah As a young girl Mrs Whitney was was an active c participant in L. L D. D S S. church affairs She was a member of ot the Young Ladles Ladles' Retrenchment society society so so- clety forerunner of the present Young Women's Mutual Improvement association She also was a member lof of the old Wasatch Literary society Except for two years spent in England England En En- gland when she assisted her husband in presiding over the European L. L D. D S S. S mission from 1920 until 1922 Mrs Whitney had resided all aU her life me in Salt Lake City Surviving are two sons Murray W. W Whitney Ogden and Wendell W.
