Show funeral held at joseph saturday for J E leavitt funeral services for james E leavitt 76 who died of brights disease at the salina hospital december 11 were held in the joseph ward chapel saturday afternoon with bishop J elbert parker presiding speakers were E L black of the manti temple wilford hansen of monroe and bishop parker the ward choir sang sometime well understand 0 my father and my father knows I 1 face to face was sung as a solo by clifford nelson and thos ransom lawrence and clifford jones of monroe sang that silver haired daddy of mine the invocation was by W T owens the benediction by peter lott james E leavitt was born at cambra michigan may 12 1859 a son of lyman arid add ella A brown leavitt he came to utah with his parents when five years of age they settled at farmington five years later they were called to the muddy in nevada after leaving nevada they moved to kanosh ICa nosh where mr leavitt lived until he married hulda jane parker december 25 1879 the young couple moved to joseph in january 1889 they lost four children with diphtheria this left them childless the same year he and his wife moved to mesa arizona where they lived for three years again they fe returned turned to joseph his wife died march 29 1924 in 1925 26 he filled a mission in california when he returned he moved to Richfield where he resided until his death in september 1930 he married mrs airs polly ann ross king of antimony who survives together with the following sons and daughters mrs grace carter lloyd and paul leavitt of joseph ether leavitt of kimberly mrs mary of richfield mrs lasca anderson amderson of monroe and frank leavitt of salt lake city A sister mrs james paxton of kanosh a brother elroy leavitt of oakland california thirteen half brothers and sisters bisters of mesa arizona 36 grandchildren and one great grand child survives also during his life mr leavitt held many positions of trust he was a member of the school board of the joseph ward bishopric and justice of the peace he was vas noted for his jovial disposition among those who went to tg joseph for the funeral were mr and mrs abts james paxton mr and mrs albert hailsey Hawl sey mr and mrs arthur hailsey Hawl sey mr and mrs prime paxton mr and mrs van mrs mary hailsey Hawl sey E L black and mr and mrs charles christensen of kanosh president R D young of manti and mr and d mrs bryant parker of richfield |
