(AP) upsets eliminated all the seeded players in two rounds of competition n Match Friday in the Play Championship, but another set of eight exempt players including some of golf's greatest stars are poised to make their entrance in the PGA Tours season-openinevent. Tom Watson, Hal Sutton, Fuzzy Zoeller and five others, the leaders from the 1983 Seiko Grand Prix list, begin competition Saturday against the survivors of four rounds of earlier competition. Ben Crenshaw, Tom Kite, Lanny Wadkins, Cal Peete and Gil Morgan, who won the Tucson tournament as a medal-plaevent last year, also were given byes into the fifth round of play. And, Mark Hayes said, they may begin at something of a disadvantage. There probably will bo an advantage to the guys who have played through the tournament so far, Hayes said after his triumph over D.A. Weibring in the fourth round. The guys who have played know the course better. They've gotten Into the season. For the others, theyre playing their first competitive round of the year. They might be a little edgy.
