Their boys ran a bit better (than expected). As a result, both teams won Auteam titles at the BYU-Prov- o tumn Classic cross country meet Saturday. Bingham's Lynette Petersen won the girls' individual title. She ran course at East the Bay Golf Course in 18:53. Mountain View's Amy Allen, Kristen Nuttal, Juliet Stone and Diana Pyne followed Petersen across the finish line in order. And the Bruins' Anna Pett finished 14th. That gave Mountain View 28 points. Orem finished a distant second with 129 while Timpview was third with 141. Judge Memorial was fourth at 143 and Box Elder was fifth at 176. Allen's time was 19:11, 18 seconds behind Petersen. Bruin coach Dave Houle was happy about that. He noted that Petersen beat Allen by 40 seconds consistently last year. Nuttal's time was 19:24 while Stone finished at 19:27. Pyne's time was i9:32. Kim Heaps of Orem placed sixth at 19:37. Judge's Chelsea Deakins was seventh while Heather Price of Murray was eighth. Provo's Becky Hemmert and Springville's Heather Witney placed ninth and 10th, respectively. "It's important to do well at a big invitational, especially one of this caliber," Houle said. "Coming in the girls wanted to show that our ranking las No. 1 in the nation is not a fluke. We did what we came to accomplish." Timpview's Dan Alder won the boys' race with a 15:45 clocking. Ted Hansen of Judge was second at 15:52. Bingham's Hobby Duncan was third with Brian Hancock of Cedar City fourth. American Fork's Rich Rowley was fifth, just one of a second behind Hani th cock.
