Show Citizens of Area Asked to Write Letter on Prisoners The Ute Chapter of the Air Force Association are sponsoring sponsor-ing a campaign to get letters written to Minister Xuan Thuy of North Vietnam about the treatment of prisoners of war in Vietnam. Also involved are many Jaycee chapters, local C of C organizations, as well as other civic groups. The goal is to get as many letters signed by as many individual in-dividual Utah citizens as possible poss-ible during March. To help out in this effort, the Review will take on the responsibility respon-sibility of acting as a pickup point for these letters. Following Follow-ing is a format, and if interested inter-ested citizens will write out a letter in the following form, drop it in the Review office, or mail it in, P.O. Box 278, we will see that they are picked up or forwarded. Type of Letter Minister Xuan Thuy North Viet Nam Delegation Paris Peace Conference Paris, France. Your Excellency: I would like to express my deep concern over your treatment treat-ment of prisoners of war. Being a Nation in the world community, you are obligated out of humanitarian considerations consider-ations to afford those whom you hold the minimum standards stand-ards of existence. I appeal to you, to your Government Gov-ernment and to your allies to: Treat all prisoners of war humanely as specified in the provisions of the Geneva Convention. Con-vention. Publish a list of prisoners. Permit neutral inspection of all prison camps. Provide information about those known to be dead. Release the sick and seriously serious-ly wounded. Allow a free flow of mail. In behalf of those suffering mental and physical torture, we ask your help in the name of common decency. Sincerely, (Sign your name) |
