Show LIVES LOST WHEN AIRSHIP COLLAPSES Storm Is Encountered; Three Noted Aviators Lose Lives; Fifteen of Crow Missing. BERLIN, Sept. 9. The German marlno airship L. I. was destroyed this evening In a hurricane eighteen miles north of Helgoland. Torpedo boats were dispatched Immediately Imme-diately to the scene and rescued seven of the crew. Fifteen others are roportod iinlsslng and It Is almost cortaln they perished, as the airship remained afloat for not more than an hour. Among thosft who lost their llvc3 were Captain Motzlng, commander of the marine alrBhlp division; Captain Hanne, commander of the wrecked airship, and Baron Von Maltzahn. The hurricane' came on so suddenly that It was Impossible for the commander to reach a landing. |
