Eighteen of the long distance run-;ners run-;ners In the West have entered the bi 6-mlle race from North Ogden to Lor-llfl Lor-llfl Parr park which will bo held Armistice Arm-istice day, Tuesday, November 11. Th I race will see three champions in hardness har-dness and a number of youngsters, 'ptinied for battle, and eager to defeat the stars of today. While the majority major-ity of the men entered thus far are ! old timers and are from I'tah. the outside states will have some fast men in harnef Harold Young of Portland, stellar Idistance man of the Multnomah club of that city, Is in Ogden and la in : training for the big doings. Young has j won scores of races on the coast and Is expected to show a world of class ! in the Die teature. W. E. Towns, the Indian star of Cheyenne, reports that he Is fast rounding into first class condition and i expects to romp home a winner. Towns has had considerable experience experi-ence and should be able to cive the veterans trouble. He will run unat-I unat-I tachd. Champion Entered. He will en-j ter the six-mile and mile run. Johnson a Star. Ted Johnson, former western champion, cham-pion, winner of scores of lonr: dis-tnneo dis-tnneo races from coast to co.:st, form-e. form-e. Clarence Preshaw. the Ogden boy I entered in the big grind, will wear the i colors of the American Legion in th' j big race. Preshaw has been doins some hard training of late and expects j to give the oth'-r runners a battle for laurels in the big classic. Preshaw has had but little experience, but is I being backed by Ogden people to fin- ish well to the fore. Dark Horse in Race. Frankie Davis ol the East Denver High school of Denver, is one of the Ulark horse.. In the race. Davis is I running in his third year and Is out I for laurels. Wesley Jacques, star distance run-ner run-ner of the Utah Aggies at Logan, will near the colors of the Aggies in the ,big grind. Jacques won both the mile and hall mile runs in the state college: track and lield championships held at Provo last spring. Jacques is rated as one of the best long distance runners ; that ever attended the Aggie school and is a second Nathan Tolman. A polished runner in every sense of the word and. winner, is the way Coach Rinrn of tin I'tah Accie- lair praise-the praise-the work of Jacques. Ho will alsoj j i nter the mile run. Brown Has Record. "Bunk" Brown, with? a record of -1 'minutes and 37 seconds in the mile; run, should be one of the winners in , that event. Brown is polished in' every respect, and holds the state in- terscholastic record for that event. ! He made his record at Provo last I spring. Brown will enter the m;; mile grind and with his experience i-hould he able to give the old timers a bat j lie. He should finish in the first four places.
