of the county commissioners this morning which was not yet disposed of at the time the noon recess was token and another session Is being held this afternoon when the reports of the two commissioners who were at the portland exposition investigating vesti gating road rollers and rock crushers will be received the question of consolidating the school districts of the county into one district will also be taken up at the morning session a protest against eden being deluded in such a consolidation was fec elved and taken under advise ment the petition was signed by J M shupe and william gould both trustees of the eden school district and barty tour others tha bond of dr J S gordon as county physician in the sum of 1000 with thomas G burt and 0 A moyer as sureties was accepted and approved by the board after which a com muni catlon was read from dr forbes bormet county physician expressing regret at severing his connection with the board whom he thao teed tor the many kindnesses shown him during the tour ind one halt years that he acted inthe capacity of county A communication was read from dr R S joyce calling attention to a patient B B by name now at general hospital where he was operated upon tor tubercular abscess of the abdomen in january of this year and setting forth the fact that the mans means had become exhausted that he now was indebted to i tha in the sum of that he was a deserving person and although it was an unusual proceeding the was asked to take care of the patient the matter was referred to the commissioner on poor county clerk david mattson submitted a written statement concerning the receipt of the resignation of chief deputy john V bluth which becomes effective july A petition tor the closing of an old road in uintah district was read the road referred to run from the northwest comer ai mrs B W winchesters Win chesters property to the new county road east of mrs 9 stuarts land the petition was signed by samuel dye and twenty others and the request was granted bythe loard mr stanford submitted a report of the poor commissioners contingent fund tor the quarter ending june soth which showed receipts for the quarter toe and disbursements for the month of april may 1640 and june total of this amount the recapitulation showed railroad tare and 1940 tor general relief the report was approved joseph hoag county fish and game warden submitted a report showing that ho acad spent a number of days in the canyon and had found the fish in excellent condition he reported that he bad received several complaints regarding infractions of the fishing laws but that lie had found no cases of the laws being violated he also staled that he was in receipt of a communication that giant powder was being used lor killing fish and that he was investigating the matter at the present dirae another complaint had been received against the refuse from the sugar factory being allowed to enter the stream of the confluence of the i ogden and weber rivers it was stated that this refuse killed the fish referred to commissioner stanford and tho fish and game warden who will confer with flygare on the matter mr wilsin reported tha road work progressing nicely in bis districts and stated that the bridge across the middle fork of the stream in ogden valey had beer temporarily repaired by supervisor alien he alap reported that the sprinkling of the canyon was being done in a ory way but recommended that the road be sprinkled at least one or two trips on saturday nights the request was granted the same commissioner reported that be had employed T C morris to paint the sign s as to the ordinance regulating the speed of automobiles in tho canyon and calling upon tha chauffeurs to use the river side of the road ha further stated that tha spring in the canyon had been fixed so that it I 1 could be used as a drinking fountain i mr madsen who returned from port land yesterday morning asked tor further time on the different tax mat that had been referred to him and his request was granted by the board i george welch of west weber comi to the board that the water irom arlough prevents ahn from having access to certain parts of his farming lands and the complaint was referred to commissioner madsen for investigation and report mr stanford reported that he had visited the riverside road district and that the road supervisor had made complaint that the irrigation water from the ratter farm by seeping through the high bank above the roadway had caused the bank to cave and roll causing a mud hole on the roadway the county attorney who wai present explained that the county bad a right to compel the parties to dig a i ditch to convey the water away so as not to damage the roadway the matter was referred to mr stanford who will notify the parties interested i the same commissioner reported bad visited the county infirmary where a flowing well had been dug in the pasture which would provide plenty of water and mat the total cost of the game was 80 but that one halt of this amount would be paid by a man named hobson who has the adjoining property and who would also use the water from the well eo that the cost to the county would ne but 40 which amount was much less than the expense of getting water from the canal as heretofore mr stanford said that he has received an application from H C ward leiga regarding the burial of the late W H dark who was an old soldier the law provides that in cases where the family are unable to stand the expenses attendant on the death of a gold ier that the county the sum of 75 referred to the poor com with power to act upon abo parties presenting the proper affidavits as prescribed by law mr stanford stated that chehad received an application from C A en secretary of the state board of horticulture asking for the use of the county fruit tree sprayer tor the purpose of exterminating the san jose scale which had became rather danger ous in lynn marryott Marr lott and allson districts the request was granted with the understanding that the work be done under the supervision of county horticulture inspector R E allson chri board then took a recess appear in ogden manager heagren of the salt lake saucer track has received an addition to the fast bunch of riders which he has in tow in the person of oscar goerke of brooklyn goerke is one of the fastest men in his class now riding he accompanied ivor lawson and hurley when they made trip to england and won second place in the worlds championship pion ship three mile race amateur while there goerke says that the racing game is dead in tha east and that an influx of eastern riders may be expected at any time as there is little money to be had on the eastern tracks he will make bis first appearance in utah at the races in salt lake tomorrow and on thursday will be seen on the local track he having entered for several events HEAVY TRAIN WESTBOUND eighteen passenger cars pulled by one engine southern pacific no 3 going west this morning was one of the longest passenger trains that has left the local yards for many months the train consisted of fourteen pullman sleepers one tourist sleeper one chair car and two baggage cars all pulled by one engine among the railroad men there was considerable discussion regarding the train it was remarked that before the ogden lucan cutoff cut off such a heavy train would have been impossible even with two engines formerly halt this number of cars were all that two of the heaviest engines could over the division to lucan since the completion of the great ogden lucan cut oft ona engine and crew is doing the work that required three or four engines and crews and doing it more efficiently and with greater dispatch 1 THREE BOYS IN GOURT judge patton places them on his delinquent lin quent list three boys were la the juvenile court this morning charged with the most serious offense with which judge patton has had to deal T two 0 the boys in question were at the sanitarium the other day when harry Patt lson and john bloamer were bathing while the men were in the water the boya rifled their clothes securing nearly 12 in court this morning they gave as their excuse for stealing that they wanted some money for the fourth of july judge patton did not consider this to be SL valid excuse and placed tho boys on his delinquent list they being ordered ta report each saturday until released ehte other boy who had no part in the theft but was simply in the com other two was allowed to depart when the judge heard his story THEY ARE AFTER HIM police looking for a man who broke jail several weeks ago six men escaped from the lall at raton new mexico for whom authorities at that have been looking tor some time saturday the local officers received a letter in which it was stated that one of the men was believed to be in ogden as be had been writing from this place to a friend in hallda colorado the police have a
