Mr. Ferre was elected at the recent annual meeting of the Institute at the University of California, Berkeley. Next years sessions will be in August, 1961, at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis-S- t. Paul, and will be attended by some 3,000 farm business leaders, university and government, farm and marketing speciliasist, farm credit men, and rural educational workers, including 1,200 rural members of youth organizations and young farmers. Mr. Ferre recently received an honorary award from the groups of the state. He has been very active in promoting activities for the farm youth and is recognized as one of Utahs outstanding farm leaders. 4-- H Air Force Announces New Utah Unit Lt Col. Stewart S. Smith, representing the U.S. Air Force Continental Air Command Surgeon at a recent inspection visit to the 8636th Air Force Reserve Recovery Group, Ft. Douglas, Utah, announced that the Salt Lake City reserve had been selected to activate a areamedical evacuation unit on Jan. 1, 1961. Purpose of this unit will be to provide an evacuating ability to evacuate patients by air to specific medical staging areas and hospitals. The new unit will be manned by 49 medical service officers 1JMJ and nurses and 143 medical technicians. The new unit will be organized and directed by Lt. Col. Henry G. Talmage, U.S. Air Force officer in charge Of reserve forces in Utah. The new organization will be a category A unit, which will provide 48 pay periods in addition to 15 days paid active duty tours and other specialized training.
