Show I COLORADO DEMOCRATS They Nominate Alva Adams ami a Strong Ticket DENVEB Oct GTho Democratic State Convention adjourned today after nominating nomi-nating Hon Alva Adams for Governor H B Qillespio for LientonnntQovernor Jerry Mahone for Secretary of State Casi mero Berela for Auditor Colonel Stiruian for AttorneyGeneral and Rev Myron W Reed for Congress The convention passed resolutions on the deathof SamuelJ If Iden Thomas A Hendricks George McOlellau Horatio Seymour and Winfield S Hancock The platform favors the free and unlimited coinage of silver on the same terms as gold by the Government to be fallowed by active measures to bring about its consideration as an international subject criticises the Republican Re-publican party claiming that they have while in power created and maintained gigantic monopolies resulting in the serious conflict between capital aim labor which now agitates all sections of the country commends the Democratic House of Representatives Repre-sentatives for the refusal to suspend the coinage of silver and its passage of the resolution requiring the Treasury Department Depart-ment to use the surplus and the cancellation of the interestbearing national debt It also commends President Cleveland for his impartial execution of the civil service law congratulates the Democratic party on its return to power and upon the honesty and integrity which by reason of such return has characterized the administration of public affairs during the past two years it approves the reclaiming of the public land granted to railway corporations the removal of the various tnbcs of Indians from the West and the beginning of the reconstruction reconstruc-tion of the navy asks that some immediate legislative action be taken to allow of the purchase of the Indian reservations remaining remain-ing in Colorado expressing sympathy with the Homo Rule movement in Ireland and commends Gladstone and the Irish leaders in their endeavors to secure a representative representa-tive government favors interState legisla tion as to railway corporations and advocates advo-cates legislation fixing the rates of passenger and freight traffic denounces the employment employ-ment of convict labor when used in competition compe-tition with laboring men and recommends the u of such labor on the construction and improvement of the public roads only |
