Show The Stormont Following it i an extract from tbe report of Proeator Newberry on the Stormont property which appeared in the Engineering and Mining Journal of a recent date The stamp mill belen zing to this company com-pany I found apparently in excellent order or-der and doing its work regularly and well under the judicious management ot Mr Gilletpie It seems very complete in all its appointment and my only regret in connection with it ii that it is not located nearer the mines Where it is now placed it hs the advantage of being cheaply driven by waterpower but this is more than compensated by the necessity of hauling the ore four or five miles 1 it at an expense of 220 per ton According to estimates tn my etimat a sav ing of about 1 per ton would be affected by the removal of the mill to a point conveniently near the Buckeye Last Chance and Etormont Mine and the substitution of steam for water as a motive power At present such a removal re-moval would probably not be wire but should the output of the mines be materially ma-terially increased it may be questioned whether it would not be better to erect anew new mill at the mines than to double the capacity of the old one and add t the daily loss if profit by adding to tbe expense ex-pense of transportation In conclusion r L would say that I can sincerely congratulate congra-tulate your company on the possession I of what I regard as a fine mining property prop-erty I seem to me to include the cream of the silver dep > sits of Silver Beef in tbe bands of Mr Layton and Colonel Allen to be under food management and contain all the elements of permanence perma-nence and Uccess |
