Trudy Tesch of Liberty has been called to serve in the Chile Conception Mission. His farewell address was held on August 13 at the Liberty 1st Ward. Elder Bennett Jacob Oberg, son of Craig and Lynette Oberg of Liberty has returned from serving in the Lima Peru Mission. His homecoming was held August 20 at the Liberty 1st Ward. Elder Aaron Stevens, son of Dave and Linda Stevens of Liberty has returned from serving in the Bolivia Santa Cruz Mission. His homecoming was held August 20 at the Liberty 2nd Ward. Births Justin Mortensen and Tesha Pack had a baby boy on July 27. Scott and Jodi Richardson of Huntsville had a baby girl on August 8. Eagle Scouts Wade Theodore Pilcher, 19, son of Carol Lee Pilcher and the late John R. Pilcher of Liberty, has earned his Eagle Scout Award. Wade earned his award as a member of Troop 15. Aaron F. Tesch, 18, son of Garth W. and E. Trudy Tesch of Liberty has earned his Eagle Scout Award. Aaron earned his award as a member of Troop 32. He is a senior at Weber High School. Weddings Montgomery – Shulz Exchanging nuptial vows Friday July 28 were the former Shellie Montgomery and Jason David Shulz. The bride is the daughter of Ronald J. and Jeanie Montgomery of Huntsville. Parents of the bridegroom are Scott and Jann A. Petersen of Clinton. A garden reception and dance at the Montgomery residence was held afterward. She chose her sister, Heather Montgomery, as maid of honor. His grandfather, Joseph Allen, carried out duties as best man. He is employed with TRW and Fanzz. She is employed with Browning. The bride graduated from Weber High School. She will continue her education at Weber State University. The bridegroom is a graduate of Northridge High School and will graduate form Weber State University, with a degree in technical sales. Wixom – Stettler United in marriage on Saturday, August 5, were the former Jamie Wixom and Jeff Stettler. The ceremony and reception were hosted by the bridegroom’s grandparents, Freeman and Donna Murray at Murray’s Meadows in Ogden Valley. Parents of the bridegroom are Sue and Mel Mason, and Dell and Vonda Stettler. Parents of the bride are Gary and Janet Wixom. Attending the bride as maid of honor was Dawn Purcell. Serving as best man was Jeremy Stettler. The bride is a graduate of Layton High School and works as a welder at Lifetime Products. The bridegroom is a graduate of Clearfield High School and Weber State University, with a bachelor’s degree, and works as an electrical engineer at Lifetime Products. After a honeymoon in Yellowstone National Park, the new Mr. and Mrs. Stettler will reside in Roy. Young Womanhood Ashley Makenna Bingham, 18, daughter of Michele Bingham Thorsted of Huntsville and the late Barry Bingham, has been awarded the Young Womanhood Gold Medallion Award. She is a member of the Middleton Ward. She is a graduate of Weber High School. Katherine Hale, 18, daughter of Barbara and Phil Hale of Huntsville has been awarded the Young Womanhood Gold Medallion Award. She is a member of the Middleton Ward. She is a graduate of Weber High School. Elizabeth D. Lee, 18, daughter of Stephen and Diane Lee of Huntsville has been awarded the Young Womanhood Gold Medallion Award. She is a member of the Middleton ward. She is a graduate of Weber High School. Obituaries Storey-Gardner Exchanging nuptial vows Friday, August 11, in the Bountiful LDS Temple, were the former Emilie Storey and Brett Gardner. She is a daughter of Craig and Miriam Storey of North Ogden. His parents are C. Edward and Janice Gardner of Harrisville. A garden reception at the Grand Estate Reception Center was held afterward. Alyson Storey and Sara Storey were bridesmaids. Jake Storey and Spencer Storey were groomsmen. The new Mr. and Mrs. Gardner will live in Ogden, after their wedding trip to Jackson, Wyoming. He will continue to work for Atkinson & Taylor Professional Painting. She will continue to work at McKay Dee Hospital and the University of Utah NICU. A graduate of Weber High School and LDS Seminary, she recently completed her LPN certification and plans to graduate from Weber Sate University next spring. A graduate of Fremont High School and LDS Seminary, he attends WSU and served in the Brazil Sao Paulo South LDS Mission. Powell-Harmon Changing nuptial vows on Friday, the eleventh of August in the Portland Temple were the former Tiffany Heather Harmon and Nathan Dale Powell. The bride is the daughter of LaRay and Linda Harmon of Portland, Oregon. Parents of the bridegroom are Dale and Beverly Powell of Eden. A reception was held at the Harmon residence in Portland, Oregon on August 11, and an Open House was held in their honor at the residence of the groom’s family in Eden on August 26. The couple are residing in Orem where Nathan is finishing his degree at Brigham Young University in Mechanical Engineering. The bride recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Geography. Katherine Empey Johnson LIBERTY-Katherine Empey Johnson, 83, died Saturday, August 5, 2000 at her home in Liberty. She was born June 11, 1917 in Ogden, a daughter of Charles B. and Katie Myers Empey. She married Hans W. Johnson on October 29, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She lived in Ogden and Liberty her entire life. Katherine graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State and Utah State Universities. She was an active member of the Liberty 2nd Ward and served as Primary President, organist and chorister in the original Liberty Ward. In the Liberty 1st Ward she served as Relief Society secretary and chorister. She also served as East Ogden Stake Primary President as well as various positions in the church both in Ogden and Liberty. She was a swimming instructor at the Blue Dolphin Swim School in Liberty for many years. She served as President of the Child Culture Club of Ogden and the Ogden Altrusa Club. Her handcrafts are treasured by many. She had a genuine interest in and sincere love and friendship for everyone. She will be missed. She loved life and made the most of all it had to offer. She was preceded in death by her husband. Surviving is one daughter, Kathy. Internment, Liberty Cemetery. A special thanks to Ruth Bailey.
