Meeting, Thursday There will be a meeting for members of the Methodist Church next Thursday evening at the church, when plans will be made for the Christmas Sunday School program. The meeting will be at 8:00 p.m. St Patrick's Church There will be no Religion Classes on Saturday of this week. The ladies of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, will hold classes on Monday, with Mrs. Joseph Bernini and Mrs. Harold Spencer in charge of the regular classes. The high school group will meet on Monday after school, instead of the regular day, Tuesdav. Mrs. Cecil Fitch is the instructor for this group. Parents are urged to see that their children attend these classes. Tuesday classes, with Marie Evans in charge will be as usual. Su"dav Mass at Eureka will be at 9:00 am., and in Nephi at 11:00 o'clock in the Colonial Manor. Masses on Tuesday. Dec. 8, a Holv Day of Obligation, will be at 7:00 a.m., and 5:00 in Eureka. pm. LDS Church Services Eureka Ward Bishop Denton Bartschi conducted the . Sunday evening services at the Eureka Ward. The opening prayer was given by Paul Fawson. and the music was under direction of Eola Parrish at the organ and May-m-e WirthUn as chorister. Bob Robinson was made First Counselor to the YMMIA and Jov Thompson and IweT were made teachers in the Mutual Improvement Association. Ann Birrell was made snorts director in the Young Womens MIA and also a worker in the Junior Sunday School. William Thompson was released as 2nd counselor in the Sunday School, and Don Franks was sustained as 2nd counselor in the Sunday School. Speakers were William Thompson. Duane Garbett and Bishop Bartschi. Mrs. Arlene Milne sang a solo, and was accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Eola Parrish who is a guest at the Milne home. The benediction was given by Max Wayne Berry. "History of the Chester Ward" is the title of a new book off the presses today and ready for sale throughout the Sanpete County area. The book, illustrated with numerous pictures was complied and written by J. Emil Jensen, prominent church man of that community. The volume contains biographical sketches of early settlers and also family and historical data of early "pioneers to Chester as well as recording those who have served in a church capacity and in offices in the community. It was printed by Art City Publishing Company of Springville. Books may be purchased from Mr. Jensen or Bishop Charles Puzey at Chester. Mail orders will be accepted. Mrs. Agnes Malcolm Beck Lewis, 73, of Sandy, and a former resident of Eureka, died last Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1964, at her home in Sandy of a heart ailment. She was bom in Tooele Nov. 16, 1891 to John G. and Rhoda Tate Malcolm. She received her education in the Eureka schools, and later graduated the University of Utah in Salt Lake. She married Dean J. Beck, August 15, 1912 in Farmington. They made their home in Eureka 'for many years. He died in 1953. Shortly after his death she moved to Sandy, where she had since resided. She married Arthur J. Lewis, April 1957 in Elko, Nevada. She was a former school teacher, and a member of the University Alumni Club, Midvale Community Club, WBA Women, Relief Society teacher, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include her band; two daughters, Mrs. FTed (Marguerite) Bauer; Mrs. James (Patricia) Sullivan, Glynco, Ga.; two grandchildren; one great grandchild. He was a veteran of World War II, and an employee of the Capitol Chevrolet for 14 years. His father, Ralph Firth, a former resident of Eureka died November 10, 1964. Survivors include his widow, two daughters and one son of Salt Lake; his mother, Mrs. Ralph Firth, all of Salt Lake; and one sister, Mrs. Shirley Martin, Erie, Pa. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Winder Fifth LDS Ward Chapel in Salt Lake. Burial was in Memorial Gardens of the Valley. Coach Watts has a talented string of lettermen returning this year and coupled with the unbeaten Frosh outfit of last year, should come up with one of the better teams in .the WAC this year. i - 1 Joseph Passie dies in Ely Joseph Passie. 68, a former resident of Eureka died in Elv, Nevada, Friday, November 26, 1964, after a long illness. He was bom July 5, 1896 in Leadville, Colorado, to John and Anna Passie. He married Myrtle Pope in Nephi, May 24, 1918. He was a veteran- of World War 1, and they made their home in Eureka for several years before moving to Ely, Nevada, where he had since resided. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning in Ely, Nevada. The body was brought to Eureka Tuesdav morning, where the Jolley Mortuary of Payson took charge and burial was in the Salem City Cemetery. The grave was dedicated by Mel Hanks. Accompanying the body to Eureka were his widow, his sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Tom McLaughlin and Ed Hopes of Ely, Nevada; and Bert Hanks, Jr. also of Ely. Relatives joining the cortage at Eureka and making the trip to Salem for the burial were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hanks, Howard Hanks and daughter, Katie of Price; Mr .and Mrs. John Morley and daughter, Mrs. Loring McMorris of Provo; Mrs. Helen Hassell, Orem. Albert Morley of Reno attended the services held in Ely, Nevada.
