Now as you go back to find the magazine it is gone. When you ask the librarian where it is he says someone has mutilated it bevond repair. Has this ever happened to you? Tom Challis, serial librarian, says that this happens too often in the library. Challis says that he cant see any way to stop the mutilation of the magazines other than the honor system, because no librarian can be watching over the whole "Srary at one time. Challis also says he doesnt think mutilation of the d magazines is among students and asks those students that do it to think of others. Challis says there is great use of the magazines here at SUSC and that if students need an article from a magazine there are other ways to get it than to tear the article out. You can check the magazine out for two days, or you can copy the article on the librarys copy machine. Challis states that it is very hard to replace back issues of magazines because publishers just dont keep them, and that the tattle tale machine has cut down on the theft of magazines from the library. Challis says that if you need an article that is missing from a y magazine you can sometimes receive a copy through the loan system. wide-sprea- inter-librar- C3IrnUUG earner ahrim xreffs c3iMiibo sfe 9 rH Ch f' t: ' ' x t i - VX- - - - v.
