The theory the-ory that the price of May wheat had reached about the lowest point consistent with what are called legitimate conditions formed the basis of much of the late demand. de-mand. A feature wm an active demand for the July option from a house which Is credited with having recently been trading trad-ing for Gates. Prices, however, made little lit-tle response to the Improved demand, the rally in May being confined to less than a cent. The market closed steady with May off precisely 7c at 83c.
