Show THE GOLDEN Page Two Guest Editorial In our society the symbolism of adulthood is synonymous with graduation from high school At this time the new graduate has two choices he may either join the highly competitive adult community or he may choose to join a college community Irrespective of his choice the new adult is expected to assume certain responsibilities as a citizen of the community in which he plans to live and workstudy It is the responsibility of every citizen to be well informed as to the needs of his community politically socially and economically and to give support and service whenever and wherever possible The person choosing to join a small college community such as CEU has the unique opportunity of being actively involved in student government and student organizations of developing qualities of leadership and of being part of worthy service projects and social activities both with and for their peers In a large college community very few students are given these opportunities for growth and in the adult community these opportunities for the very young adult are virtually nil Check into your own experiences during the past year as a member of the CEU community How many hours of service have you contributed? How many scholastic social and artistic events and organizations have you actively supported?
