Show Wednesday, Kay am 9, 1974 Page G LINDSAYS TEAM TAKES ROLLOFF Thelma Lindsays bowling team captured Park Citys Womens Bowling League title by defeating Norma Cowins team on May 2nd. The winning team composed of Francis Pirraglio and Shirley Street, along with Mrs. Lindsay, rolled a 1530 team set to top the 1522 posted by Donna Alvey, Shana Mackley, and Mrs. Cowin. The Lindsay squad was the winner of the first half of the eight team competition this season while the Cowin team took the second half. Team and individual awards will be presented on May 8th at the Bowling Banquet. To be honored are the first and second place teams, high average for the season, Norma Cowin, high game, Beth Marcellin, and 'high' series, Thelma Lindsay. Also slated for awards are Donna Alvey for high handicap game, Rene Martinez for high handicap series, and Francis Pirraglio for most improved bowler. INTERIOR DECORATING SEMINAR Carolyn Huffs tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade home economics students recently completed a unit on interior decorating. One of Ms. Huffs objectives in her class projects is to utilize the resources of the community to illustrate and educate. The interiors of two houses in Thaynes Canyon, the Hurley Mansion, and two houses in Summit Park were studied. In addition, the class visited an interior decorating studio, afumiturewarehouse and a moderate priced furniture store in Salt Lake City in order to observe the differences in price, selection and services offered by the three. The final project for the home economics students was the theoretical furnishing of a one room studio on a budget, incorporating all the principles of design which had been imparted to them. The class is presently studying grooming and was taken to Dollys to hypothetically select a wardrobe best suited for them as individuals. BOOKMOBILE IN PARK CITY As a preview of whats to come this summer, the Bookmobile will be in Park City on Friday, May 10. It will be at Marsac in the morning and all classes will have the opportunity to tour it. MARSAC HAPPENINGS Today, May 8, the kindergarteners are going on a field trip to the Zoo and Park. They all were looking forward to having a fun day! And on Thursday, IVlay 9, the fourth graders will return to the University of Utah to again visit the Science Museum, MERCHANTS The Main Street Merchants Association held a meeting Wednesday, May 1, at 7 PM at the Mother Lode. Chairwoman Sheila Ivers announced that had contributed $3,450 to the Association. Moreover, the old Main Street Improvement Committee presented them with $340, along with $8 worth of postage stamps. The money will go towards radio advertising which will be done in conjunction with the Lodging Moun-tainlan- ds Association. The meeting was brief as the merchants were anxious to attend the 7:30 PM Planning Commission Meeting. The main purpose for attending the Planning Commission Meeting was to request a hearing at a later date when the Main Street Merchants could discuss and clarify ordinances and zoning in the Historic District. At the next meeting of the MSMA, members will study proposed Historical Ordinances. They will then discuss recommendations with the Master Plan Committee before the Public Hearings. For further information, contact Sheila Ivers. LAW DAY On Law Day, May 1st, students from Park City High School assumed varius municipal positions. From to road maintenance mayor workers, the young officials received a first-han- d knowledge of the problems and in public service. When asked entailed responsibilities what actions she had taken, the student mayor replied, All Ive done is listen to complaints all day. |
