The Mormon Miracle d June y v. 22-2- 6 MANTI, UTAH 50 CENTS NUMBER 37 THURSDAY, APRIL 1, 1999 Two MHS students named Regional Sterling Scholars honors 3 Runners-u- p also named at Awards Program on March 24 Two Manti High students received ship; Margaret Burnham, Social Science; Regional Sterling Scholar 1st place and Heidi Bailey, Speech and Drama, awards at the annual Awards Program held March 24 at Millard High School. Thomas Bishop, English; and Sheleen Willmore, Business won 1st place honors. Christine Johnson, General Scholar earned runner-u- p awards. These fi e students w ill recei e scholarship offers to all state colleges and universities in Utah, including BYU and Westminster. The top 30 students represchools competed for these senting 1 1 1 in 14 categories. Other team members included: Niel Lund, Mathematics; Kenneth Riding, Sci- ence; Mindy Layton, Foreign Language; Deanne Walk, Visual Arts; Joseph Brandt, Technology Education; Jeniel Cluff, Family and Consumer Science; Mindy Evans, Dance; and Cory Poulson, Computer and Information Technology. All Sterling Scholars received tuition scholarship offers from Snow College, Utah Valley State College, College of Eastern Utah, and Dixie College. 0 W t - a r "3 I Sheriff, Narcotics Task Force make more arrests in Manti The South Sanpete School District recently received a shipment of refurbished computers from a Central Utah Correctional Facility program designed to provide computers for students. Computers donated to area schools The first shipment of 30 486 Computers and 30 Pentium Computers arrived at the South Sanpete School Dis- trict Office Wednesday. Warden Earle Hobby of Central Utah Correctional Facility', and Captain David Puett, Utah Correctional Industries, Computers for School Program Production Manager, presented the first shipment of 486 and Pentium computers to Nadine Nielson. District Technology Specialists and Lew is Mullins, Superintendent of the South Sanpete School District. Residents and companies throughout Utah donated the computers; the computers were taken to Central Utah Correction Facility in Gunnison. There they went to Utah Correctional Industries - Computers for School Department where they were upgraded.
