Show THE OLD STORY > f r j cIt 4 c-It will be seen by our dispatches this morning that the gr at stock yards strike in Chicago is drawing to a close The conflict ends in a complete victory for the proprietors of those establishments establish-ments the workmen yielding every point in the contest and are to return to work on the old tenhour system Delegate Barry sent from the general assembly of the Knights of Labor convened con-vened at Richmond Va expects to ask for the discharge of nonunion men but even if that request is denied the men will return to work Armour c Co one of the principal firms involved in this controversy contro-versy appears very independent of the union men and had an opinion that he could run his establishment independent of employing their members mem-bers and expresses a determination not to discharge the nonunion men he has employed The strike will result in disaster dis-aster for the working men since they have failed in their attempt to force on their employers the eight hour rule and large numbers will find their places filled by new men and they without employment at a season of the year when they most need it |
