Show CEU Friday March 7 4 1986-- 5 Forensics squad win 6 trophies at Snow 9 College Utah's of Eastern forensics squad brought home six trophies from the Snow College Invitational in Ephraim recently Seven colleges from Utah and Idaho competed in the two-da-y tournament J Up Sync contest packs Little Theatre with creativity enjoys listening to Victoria Jackson and also loves poetry by Todd Green staff writer With over $200 offered 15 acts performed for an overcrowded Little Theatre February 28 at the Lip Sync Contest sponsored by the cheerleaders "Victoria Victoria" (Sam Hansen) took the $100 first prise with her renditon of "The Song" by Victoria Jackson Hansen plans on using the money to buy groceries and to fix up her car Hansen picked "The Song" because she Boy-Frie-nd Boy-Frie- nd The $60 second place prise went to "Fed Up" (Shannon Kinikini and Sandra Jorgensen) with their pajama version of "No More Tears” by Barbara Streisand and Donna Summer Jorgensen wanted to do the Lip Sync because it sounded fun Kinikini on the other hand had to be talked into it and still had thoughts of dropping out up to the time their act was announced Virginia the Virgin (Fran Knorr) Utah ’85 exhibit set for March The UTAH 85 Traveling Exhibit on display at College of Eastern Utah's Gallery East from March 6 to April 4 The travelling exhibition is selected from the Utah Arts Council’s Annual Statewide Visual Arts Competition and Exhibit which was held this past summer at the Salt Lake Arts Center art works in UTAH 85 represent Utah artists in all 'those works' juried into the twenty-seve- n were competition chosen to tour the state with the Utah Arts council's Traveling Exhibition Program This exhibit includes six works which were chosen for purchase and will become part of the State Fine Art Collection administered by the Utah Arts Council The mediums and with images ranging from representational to abstract More than 700 entries were juried by Ban Kajitani Professor of Art Columbus College and Todd Walder Professor of Art U niversity i at Arizona Thejurors tried to select the most accomplished works from many categoriesthose which reflected a "completeness of the statement anda clarity of the vocabulary used in presenting it" Of The Traveling Exhibition Program is a statewide outreach service of the Utah Arts Council The program provides schools museums libraries and galleries throughout the state with a variety of exhibitions which msy be booked for a period of one month This program is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts Washington DCH and by programming funds from the Utah Arts Council walked away with $40 third place prize singing Madonna’s "Like a Virgin" The unrecognizable Knorr in her nerdy dress and horned rim glasses started the audience laughing at the first sight of her Knorr was honest about why she entered the Lip Sync she could use the money Other winners include a $25 fourth place prize for "The Twittle Twins" (Juley Atwood Emily Willson Kathy Ilillas and Todd Curtis) who started the crowd rolling with laughter when thev did Have a Happy Saint ?
